Rebellion (noun) re·bel·lion | \ ri-ˈbel-yən: an opposition to one in authority or dominance.

Okay, but make it tinier.

Our Tiny Rebellions began as a concept in 2020, while cleaning my thrice-infected, brand new helix piercing. As corporate attorney, mom, and Neurotic Jewish Woman, I used to take the safer road with most things. But after a year keeping my household afloat while maintaining my career and withstanding the stressors of political turmoil, I began to see the world differently. Life is too short—I wanted the earring. As a woman, I wanted more.

Moments of self-reckoning can lead to practical changes, if we put just a little more thought into what stands before us. Small things (like an earring!), tokens of our appreciation to ourselves, have value. Our time and energy have value. If we examine our lives’ most subtle wins and losses in the spirit of finding the lessons underlying them, maybe we will come out better.

This newsletter will help you do that.

I hope to help you think about and address daily challenges and pain points in our lives. To be inspired to do a little something extra, just for you. Or enable you to try something new. At the very least, I want to pull your mind away from your to-do list and give you a minute to breathe and to think. Self-care isn’t a noun. It requires actually caring about yourself.

About Heather Joelle Boneparth

I am a lawyer, an author, and a mom of two little girls. I am also the wife and business partner of Douglas Boneparth, a millennial finance expert whose brand I helped build from inception. During my first maternity leave (I know), we co-authored The Millennial Money Fix: What You Need to Know About Budgeting, Debt, and Finding Financial Freedom (Career Press 2017), a primer on managing six figures of student loan debt without living in your parent’s basement and reaching financial freedom on your own terms. My essays have been featured in Insider, Huffington Post, Motherly, Verily, Hippocampus Magazine, Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood, and other lit mags gone too soon.

In the spare time I squeeze from my day, I love to cook, craft, and stare longingly out my bay window like a house cat. I like fragrant candles and dressing younger than my age. I also enjoy making fun of my husband on Twitter.
